Just because you're self isolating, doesn't mean you need to drive yourself crazy being stuck indoors. We all lead such busy day-to-day lives, and staying at home is a perfect excuse to practice a bit of self care. Think of this as an opportunity to take a little me time and to re-charge with our top tips.

5 self care tips

1. No gym? No problem!

With all public gyms now closed, why not turn to online workout tutorials, with many of our favourite fitness influencers offering at-home routines so you can get your sweat on from the comfort of your own living room, no equipment required!  This will help keep you fit whilst stuck indoors, and exercising releases feel-good endorphins to boost your mood.
Our top picks are The Body Coach workouts with Joe Wicks and Yoga With Adriene

2. Hang out with friends via video

Just because your usual Friday night venue is closed and you can't visit your friends in person, doesn't mean you can't catch up with the girls virtually. Social distancing shouldn’t become social isolation. You just need a wifi connection and smart phone or laptop to arrange a meet up with friends and family through an app such as Zoom, Houseparty or Skype! How about arranging a quiz night for your friends?

3. Brush up on your beauty routine

This may seem silly, but it's important to practice self care through our beauty routines to help with well-being. Whatever it may be - from an at home manicure or doing your hair for the day will help boost self esteem and this extra time gives you a chance to master your beauty skills - like that smokey eye you've been trying to perfect! Equally, pampering yourself with your favourite face mask or a bubble bath will help you unwind and relax in the evenings.

4. Get some fresh air

Social distancing doesn't mean you have to suffocate yourself indoors all day. Ensuring you are getting some fresh air and plenty of sunlight is still important, so make sure you open your windows and take time out in your garden if possible.

5. Release your inner Marie Kondo

Why not use the extra time at home to organise your living space? It doesn't have to be much, take an hour out of your day to complete those organisational tasks you have been putting off. Why not organise your makeup, give your vanity area some TLC and clean your makeup brushes? Not only will this tidy up your space but it will also declutter your mind and ease anxiety, win-win!

"Kindness is a gift everyone can afford to give"

Remember, there is no right or wrong way to practice self-care. It’s all about experimenting and learning what works for you. As we work through this time together, both as a community and on our own as individuals, let’s seize the opportunity and practice finding the good in ourselves and each other - and of course, being thankful for wifi!
